Dr. Jiang Lin will join the University of California-Berkeley as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics beginning January 1, 2018. Dr. Lin is the Nat Simons Presidential Chair in China Energy Policy at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab), and a co-Director of the Berkeley Tsinghua Joint Research Center on Energy and Climate Change (BTJRC). He is a Staff Scientist in Berkeley Lab's China Energy Group.
This joint appointment will facilitate closer collaboration between Berkeley Lab and UC Berkeley in the area of energy and climate research.
Prior to returning to Berkeley Lab, Dr. Lin was a Senior Vice President and the Director of the China Sustainable Energy Program at the Energy Foundation (2007-2016). Under his leadership, Energy Foundation China grew to be one of the most influential organizations in China on energy, urban development, environment, and climate policy issues. From 1994-2007, Dr. Lin conducted research on China’s energy development scenarios, energy efficiency investment, appliance efficiency standards, and building energy use at Berkeley Lab.
